GUIDED INDIVIDUAL LEARNING (GIL)
GIL is designed to give students time to self-study, revise and seek further guidance from teachers. This class gives all students the opportunity to ask any questions they have and do any homework, assignments or extra practice activities. Students can choose from a variety of guided individual learning worksheets related to English, Australian history and geography, social studies and culture and mathematics.
IELTS PREPARATION CLASS
What is featured in the IELTS Preparation Class?

  • Detailed IELTS orientation and exam technique lessons

  • Interactive discussions involving high level speaking and listening,
    including asking and answering short questions

  • Facilitated group work, pair work and whole class activities

  • Strong focus on IELTS vocabulary and syntax

  • Controlled and semi-controlled grammar worksheet exercises

  • Timed speaking test preparation including intensive practice of introductions,
    topic discussions and future plans

  • Recorded listening texts of increasing difficulty featuring conversations and
    dialogues in a mixture of English accents and dialects

  • Reading and comprehension activities for both the General and Academic modules
    featuring authentic texts from newspapers, magazines, instruction manuals and books

  • Facilitated practice of writing tasks for both the Academic and General modules
    including letters and short essays

  • Strong focus on grammar and vocabulary necessary for successful description and
    explanation of data from tables, graphs and diagrams.
BUSINESS ENGLISH / TOEIC PREPARATION CLASS
This class is designed for students who work or plan to work in business and/or are preparing for TOEIC. The focus is on the development of general Business English language, specialised vocabulary and skills and examination techniques candidates will need for the test.

What is the content of the Business English / TOEIC Preparation class?

  • General business – contacts, negotiations, marketing, sales, business planning
  • Manufacturing – assembly lines, quality control, and plant management
  • Finance and Budgeting – banking, investments, accounting, billing, and taxes
  • Offices – letters, committees, telephone, fax and email, office procedures
  • Personnel – hiring, retiring, salaries, promotions
  • Housing/corporate property – construction, specifications, buying and renting
  • Travel – trains, airplanes, taxis, ships, buses, tickets, schedules, etc
  • Dining out – lunch, dinner, restaurant reservations, etc
  • Entertainment – cinema, theatre, music, art, media
LANGUAGE EXCHANGE LESSONS
Sun Pacific College teaches English to international students and foreign languages such as Japanese, French, Italian, German, Chinese and Spanish to local Australians, making our language exchange programme a great success.

For example, a student from Germany studying English and an Australian student studying German, meet for two hours in the classroom to help each other with their studies. Our Australian students are not only interested in learning language, but about the country and its culture too. Our language exchange programme is designed for improving language skills as well as sharing information, experiences and most importantly making lifetime friends.
